Michelle Effros named among world's Top 100 Young Innovators by MIT's Technology Review

Professor Effros is named among the World's Top 100 Young Innovators in technology and business by Technology Review magazine, published by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Effros, who is the director of the Caltech data compression laboratory, conducts research on information compression and communication.

With the growth of network applications like the Internet and sensor networks comes an increased need for efficient compression techniques for systems with many information sources and receivers.

Compression techniques developed for network systems can, for example, take advantage of the redundancy between separately generated sources. The results are savings in resources like time, bandwidth, and power.
